PLEASE NOTE – we no longer take orders from our online shop. If you can’t get to our markets or stockists, email Ian at hedgeleyhoney@gmail.com. Thank you.
We are always on the lookout for new apiary sites for our bees. This lovely sheltered valley would be great as a winter apiary or for nucleus colonies.
Nucleus hives and young stock for sale
It may sound obvious, but bees are the basis of everything we do. We generally don’t buy in packages or nucleus bees from suppliers.
Instead, we build up our own stocks of bees right here in Northumberland, producing nucleus hives through the season during May, June and July for sale and as young stock for the following season.
When we do buy queens from elsewhere, we do so from a bee breeder in the East of Scotland and they are Carniolan stock (Apis mellifera carnica).

They have been found to be prolific, of good temperament and excellent honey producers without consuming masses of stores during the winter.
For enquiries about nucleus hives or young stock, give us a call on 07833 317 399 to discuss your requirements.
Where can you buy our honey from our bees?
We also have a number of stockists across the county – here’s the full list with links to their websites and at our regular markets and show events.
Most of the honey sold in supermarkets comes from multiple sources. Often pasteurised and processed, you don’t know what you’re buying or where it originated from. Thankfully, you know precisely where our honey has come from! Buying locally produced honey such as ours means cutting your carbon footprint, which is good for all of us.
